Huzzah for a book that puts adventure at the helm! And as a sucker for creative world-building, I thank Brady Hunsaker for a good ol’ fantasy like something from my childhood. The premise of the Depths is great, the descriptions are fantastical, and with a large cast, there’s plenty of favorites to choose from. There’s already a strong writing style, but I would have just liked to see more internal dialogue translated physically. Eye twitches, flared nostrils, flexing fingers, tapping knees, stuff like that. I’m used to very animated characters and found myself inside these characters’ heads so much, the scene started fading to a “white room.” Just me being picky!

Overall, an enjoyable read and a refreshing adventure with lots of fun magic!!
